The Role
Legal Counsel plays a pivotal role in the legal department providing guidance and assistance to colleagues to meet the legal needs of Eurotunnel and the Getlink group in the UK and France.

They will assist with the provision of all commercial legal services required by Eurotunnel and the wider Getlink Group including ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Principal Accountabilities, Qualifications, and Experience

• Draft, review, negotiate, and approve a wide range of upstream and downstream commercial contracts, including the supply of goods and services, rail-related construction and engineering projects, IT/IP contracts, and marketing/advertising agreements.
• Liaise with colleagues across the business to identify legal considerations arising from day-to-day operational and commercial activities.
• Work closely with other business functions, ensuring key stakeholders are appropriately involved and informed of progress and developments.
• Collaborate with the Head of Legal UK and the Legal Director to meet the objectives of the legal department.
• Contribute to bi-national work between legal team members.
• Identify and mitigate legal risks for the Group’s operational and commercial activities.
• Provide training to legal team members on key UK legal issues and risks and arrange training for colleagues across the business.
• Offer legal advice and recommendations on regulatory and compliance requirements across the Getlink Group, particularly in developing and implementing Data Protection and Competition law policies.
• UK qualified solicitor/barrister 3/4+ years PQE.   
• Ideally, a mix of private practice and in-house legal experience dealing with corporate, commercial, and regulatory issues.
• Fluent in English; fluency in French is highly desirable but not essential.
