ElecLink

Established in 2011, ElecLink is building and will soon operate a high voltage interconnector to link the electricity market of the United Kingdom and France via the Channel Tunnel.  

A subsidiary of Getlink group, ElecLink will increase the existing interconnection capacity between the two countries by 50% or 1,000MW thereby enhancing security of electricity supply for both businesses and domestic consumers.

With a capacity of 1,000 MW in either direction –

equivalent to the electricity consumption of 1,650,000 households –

this installation will carry electric current through the Channel Tunnel

by a direct current (HVDC) link with a length of 51 km.
