Job description

We are looking for a Buyer to support procurement operations across a range of technical and operational purchasing categories. The role focuses on delivering best value for the business by sourcing, negotiating, and managing contracts for equipment, works and services. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure procurement activity is compliant with company procedures, best practice, and UK and European legislation.

Job requirements

  • Support procurement activities across infrastructure, operations, facilities and related technical areas

  • Establish compliant and competitive supplier consultation environments, ensuring high standards of ethics, safety and corporate social responsibility

  • Prepare and manage tender processes, including supplier lists, schedules, contract documentation and pricing structures

  • Analyse commercial offers, including cost breakdowns and compliance with legal and contractual requirements

  • Support technical and commercial clarification discussions with suppliers and internal stakeholders

  • Lead negotiations and contribute to final supplier recommendations and tender approvals

  • Draft, issue and manage contracts through to signature

  • Monitor supplier performance, support contract and change management activities, and assist with dispute resolution

  • Track financial guarantees, liquidated damages and commercial risks

  • Provide regular progress updates to the Lead Buyer and Purchasing Manager

Qualifications & Experience

  • A-levels or equivalent (degree desirable but not essential)

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a technical purchasing, procurement or project-based role

  • Experience working in structured procurement or contract management environments

  • Working knowledge of SAP or similar procurement systems

  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills

  • Fluency in English; French language skills are an advantage

  • A full UK driving licence and valid passport

  • Maintains confidentiality and understands data protection requirements

  • Demonstrates commercial and financial awareness

  • Works accurately, methodically and with attention to detail

  • Comfortable working independently and using own initiative

  • Reliable, flexible and willing to learn and develop
