Job description

To manage stock items within the Maintenance Support Department in line with established procedures and instructions. This includes receipting goods, storing items appropriately, resolving stock‑related issues, preparing and supporting deliveries, operating the pick‑ticket reservation and stock‑repairable processes, supporting UK–France/France–UK inventory transfers, and participating in rolling cycle counts and annual stock checks.

Job requirements

  • Follow and promote Health and Safety (H&S) requirements to maintain a safe working environment.

  • Carry out goods receipt activities including unloading, completing administrative and system entries, managing non‑conformities, handling quarantined items, identifying products and managing shelf‑life conditions.

  • Store items accurately, ensuring correct bin locations, volume, and required storage or environmental conditions.

  • Prepare and distribute items for internal UK teams and support transfers for maintenance teams in France, following relevant import and export procedures.

  • Ensure reserved parts and stock items are delivered within required timelines.

  • Collect unused or repairable items from workshops and coordinate transfers to satellite stores or external repair partners.

  • Support urgent stock transfers between the UK and France to maintain availability for operational teams.

  • Prepare items for external repair in collaboration with repairable inventory colleagues and team leaders.

  • Participate in cycle counts and annual stock checks to maintain accurate inventory records.

  • Apply Quality Assurance procedures, reporting non‑conformities and contributing to continuous improvement.

  • Work flexibly to meet operational needs, including unsocial hours and participation in an on‑call rota.

Qualifications and Experience

  • GCSE‑level education or equivalent.

  • Experience in a stores, warehouse or industrial stock‑control environment.

  • Confident user of computer systems, including stock management systems (IMS/SAP).

  • Experience operating forklifts, including 6t, 1.8t counterbalance and narrow‑aisle man‑up equipment.

  • Manual handling training.

  • Experience using barcode/RFID handheld devices (e.g., ZEBRA TC56).

  • Ability to participate in an on‑call rota.

  • Valid driving licence and passport.

  • Understanding of H&S requirements and commitment to safe working practices.

  • Strong attention to detail and effective time management skills.

  • Clear and effective communication skills across various channels (in person, phone, radio).

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required.

    Desirable

  • COSHH knowledge.

  • Experience with import/export processes and documentation.

  • Ability to communicate in French or another European language.
