Job description

This role is responsible for leading the development and execution of commercial analysis strategies, ensuring the effective collection, analysis, and interpretation of data to drive business decisions. Additionally, this position will act as the deputy to the director, providing support and advice, and monitoring all files to serve as a substitute in their absence.

Key responsibilities include overseeing the collection, analysis, and interpretation of commercial data to provide actionable insights and recommendations. The role involves developing and managing comprehensive commercial reporting frameworks for timely, accurate, and relevant business performance reports. It also includes leading the development of accurate budgets and rolling forecasts, aligning with strategic business goals and market trends. Identifying market trends and areas for improvement to support strategic planning and growth initiatives is another crucial aspect. The position entails owning the Freight and Passenger reporting systems, KPIs, and metrics, ensuring compliance with data governance policies and maintaining high standards of data quality and accuracy. Leading the technology transformation of reporting systems is also part of the role. Additionally, the role involves leading and developing a bi-national team, fostering a collaborative environment, and ensuring continuous improvement of internal processes.

Job requirements

  • Assist and advise the director in leading the department.

  • Oversee the collection, analysis, and interpretation of commercial data to provide actionable insights and recommendations.

  • Develop and manage comprehensive commercial reporting frameworks to ensure timely, accurate, and relevant business performance reports.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including yield management, sales, marketing, commercial, IT, and finance, to support strategic decision-making and ensure data integrity.

  • Lead the development of accurate forecasts and budgets, aligning with strategic business goals and market trends.

  • Identify and analyse market trends, opportunities, and threats to inform strategic planning and business growth initiatives.

  • Mentor and manage a team of analysts, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

  • Implement best practices and continuous improvement processes in commercial analysis and reporting to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Ensure compliance with data governance policies and maintain high standards of data quality and accuracy.

  • Track and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor business performance and identify areas for improvement.

  • Solve problems through a combination of analytical skills, collaboration, and strategic thinking.

    • Dive deep into data to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies using advanced analytical tools and techniques.

    • Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather diverse perspectives and inputs.

    • Regularly monitor KPIs and metrics to ensure they add value and are relevant to decision-makers.

    • Leverage technology and analytical tools to automate data collection, reporting, and visualization.

    • Benchmark performance metrics against industry standards or competitors.

    • Engage with key stakeholders to align on priorities, share progress, and gather feedback.

    • Test potential solutions on a smaller scale before full implementation.

    • Invest in continuous training and development of the team.

  • Make critical decisions impacting the company’s commercial strategy and operations.

    • Determine analytical approaches for strategic initiatives and accurate forecasting.

    • Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop reporting frameworks.

    • Assess market trends and make adjustments accordingly.

    • Allocate analytical resources and implement process improvements.

    • Select analytical tools, manage team development, and ensure data governance.

  • Manage budgeting processes, forecasting commercial annual revenue, ensuring alignment with the organization's financial goals.

  • Lead a team of four bi-national members driving insights and revenue for the business.

  • Lead business technology transformation projects related to reporting systems for both Passenger and Freight.

  • Possess high knowledge of the passenger and freight markets and environments.

  • Regularly interact with senior executives and key stakeholders to present findings, recommendations, and reports.

Qualifications and Experience

  • An advanced degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Significant experience in commercial analysis or data analysis, preferably within the transportation, airline, or travel industry.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills to interpret complex data and make informed decisions that drive business performance and change.

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and business intelligence software (e.g., SQL, Power BI).

  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to develop and support a diverse, bi-national team.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster an inclusive and collaborative work environment.

  • Ability to communicate in French is essential.
