Job description
The Fire Detection Maintenance Technician plays a key role in maintaining and supporting life safety and low voltage systems, including fire detection, CCTV, access control, public address and customer information systems. Working as part of the Telecommunications Control Systems (TCS) team, the role delivers preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair activities to ensure systems remain safe, reliable and operational. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with experience in electrical, electronic, fire, security or low voltage systems to develop their expertise across a diverse range of technologies within a unique operational environment.
Job requirements
Carry out planned preventative maintenance in line with technical standards and record all work within the Maintenance Management System (MMS).
Complete fault finding, first-line diagnostics and corrective maintenance on fire detection and fire safety systems.
Support the maintenance, testing and repair of low voltage systems including:
Public Address (PA) systems
Customer Information Systems (CIS)
CCTV and security systems
Access control systems
Other telecommunications systems as required
Respond to maintenance requests from the Maintenance Control Centre (MCC), prioritising activities in accordance with operational and safety requirements.
Test, troubleshoot and repair equipment both on-site and within workshop environments to maintain system reliability and availability.
Monitor Minimum Operating Requirements (MOR) and take appropriate action to minimise operational disruption.
Support technical improvement projects and asset upgrades across fire detection, safety, security and communication systems.
Follow all safety, security and operational procedures, actively contributing to a safe working environment.
Work collaboratively with colleagues across UK and French teams, supporting an inclusive and respectful binational working culture.
Complete maintenance records, technical reports and administrative documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Maintain and develop technical knowledge and competence through training, development and practical experience across multiple system disciplines.
Support wider Telecommunications Control Systems (TCS) maintenance activities and undertake other duties appropriate to the role as requested by management.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
HNC, HND, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications or a related engineering discipline.
Experience working in a maintenance, installation or technical support environment.
Ability to diagnose faults and carry out corrective maintenance activities.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Valid Passport.
Ability to meet the required medical standard for the role.
Desirable
Experience maintaining fire detection, fire alarm or life safety systems.
Experience working with one or more of the following:
CCTV systems
Access control systems
Security systems
Public Address systems
Customer Information Systems
Telecommunications systems
Low voltage electrical systems
Experience within a safety-critical, transport, infrastructure, industrial or utilities environment.
French language skills.
